“If you don’t see a clear path for what you want, sometimes you have to make it yourself.”

Happy Women’s History Month from wegg®! The National Women’s History Alliance has chosen “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” as the theme for WHM 2025. This throughline is exceptionally relevant to our work as an organization, as educating and inspiring current and future generations of women entrepreneurs are the goals for each and every one of our programs.
UN Women’s International Women’s Day brief outlines a status update for the state of women’s’ rights globally:
- For 89 per cent of governments, ending violence against women is a top priority today, and 193 countries have legal measures against it.
- Data shows that countries with domestic violence laws have seen less cases of violence against women.
- Most of the world has reached parity in education. By bridging the gender gap in accessing and shaping science and technology, we clear the remaining bottlenecks to equal opportunities and create technology that serves more people and the planet.
- More States have strengthened care services and 32 per cent of countries globally now promote better pay and safe working conditions for care workers.
- There are 112 countries with a national plan to engage women in peace and security processes – a significant increase from 19 countries in 2010.
These efforts and strides forward are proof that progress can and will be made for women and girls around the world. Furthermore, a recent study published by Wells Fargo sheds additional insight into women’s issues through the lens of entrepreneurship and business. The executive summary of the write-up states,
“Black/African American women-owned businesses are a driving force in the U.S. economy, leading 2 million businesses that employ over 647,000 people. They experienced impressive growth between 2019 and 2024, with revenue surging by 80.8% and employment increasing by 44.4%. While the firm numbers and revenue have grown significantly, these businesses face limited funding and mentorship challenges. Closing the revenue gap with the average men-owned business could add $1.7 trillion to the economy.”
We are on a mission to bolster and support women in pursuit of closing that funding gap for as long as it takes! Empowering women beyond just Women’s History Month is what we are here for.
